چکیده

Fisher randomization tests for Neyman’s null hypothesis of no average treatment effects are considered in a finite population setting associated with completely randomized experiments with more than two treatments. The consequences of using the F statistic to conduct such a test are examined both theoretically and computationally, and it is argued that under treatment effect heterogeneity, use of the F statistic can severely inflate the type I error of the Fisher randomization test. An alternative test statistic is proposed, its asymptotic distributions under Fisher’s and Neyman’s null are derived, and its advantages demonstrated.

A powerful and robust test statistic for randomization inference in group-randomized trials with matched pairs of groups.

For group-randomized trials, randomization inference based on rank statistics provides robust, exact inference against nonnormal distributions. However, in a matched-pair design, the currently available rank-based statistics lose significant power compared to normal linear mixed model (LMM) test statistics when the LMM is true. In this article, we investigate and develop an optimal test statist...

Robust inter and intra-cell layouts design model dealing with stochastic dynamic problems

In this paper, a novel quadratic assignment-based mathematical model is developed for concurrent design of robust inter and intra-cell layouts in dynamic stochastic environments of manufacturing systems. In the proposed model, in addition to considering time value of money, the product demands are presumed to be dependent normally distributed random variables with known expectation, variance, a...

Systematic Removal of Outliers to Reduce Heterogeneity in Case-Control Association Studies

BACKGROUND/AIMS In human case-control association studies, population heterogeneity is often present and can lead to increased false-positive results. Various methods have been proposed and are in current use to remedy this situation. METHODS We assume that heterogeneity is due to a relatively small number of individuals whose allele frequencies differ from those of the remainder of the sampl...

A Monte Carlo Analysis of the Fisher Randomization Technique: Reviving Randomization for Experimental Economists

Data created in a controlled laboratory setting are a relatively new phenomenon to economists. Traditional data analysis methods using either parametric or nonparametric tests are not necessarily the best option available to economists analyzing laboratory data. In 1935, Fisher proposed the randomization technique as an alternative data analysis method when examining treatment effects. The obse...
